“There are no shortcuts to an amazing painting”
Bio
Judy has painted from an early age and is predominantly self-taught. In 2009 her artistic journey was forever transformed when she met New Zealand’s renowned landscape artist, Tim Wilson. Tim, known as the “master of light,” offered to mentor Judy, an experience that elevated her work to a new level.
The amazing years spent with Tim enabled her paintings to get to the level where they were featured in his own exclusive gallery in Queenstown.
Judy’s style is impressionism bordering fauvism, enhancing the colours and tones of the natural world. Oil painting impasto, wet on wet, her work is easily recognised by the way she uses light and textures, characterised by bold colours, clever brushwork and semi-non-naturalistic depictions.
Judy is fascinated with light and its constantly changing effects. Every layer of paint is glazed for unparalleled depth and definition that is built up through small adjacent brush-strokes of a complementary hue and the result is mesmerizing on the canvas.
As the value of Judy’s paintings increased, so has her artistic profile, and now her work has become highly sought after in New Zealand and overseas. Judy uses the best quality oil pigments and handmade berge linen canvases as each painting is a one-off individual piece.
